DUNWOODY, GA -- HomeWise Solutions is offering local real estate professionals the chance to take part in a free workshop featuring Peter Pasternack and Brian Trow from the A&E reality show "Flip This House."

The real estate investment duo is offeirng their take on the state of the local market, opportunities for real estate professionals and ways to maximize income in a recovering market.

WXIA-TV Names Joe Seidel Class Act Teacher

Joe Seidel, First Montessori School of Atlanta's music teacher and director of parent relations, has been named a WXIA-TV Class Act Teacher. The station selects roughly 35 teachers each year from more than 300 nominations. Honorees are chosen based on various criteria, including love of teaching, knowledge of the subject, empathy, positive attitude and ability to meet the needs of individual students.

Seidel has more than 30 years of classroom experience. Prior to his current position, he served as head of school at First Montessori School of Atlanta. Located at 5750 Long Island Drive, FMSA is the Southeast's oldest Montessori School and serves the needs of students ages 18 months to 14 years.

Seidel earned a bachelor's degree in music performance from Illinois Wesleyan University and a master's degree in music performance from Yale University.

"My goal in teaching is to instill a lifelong love of music in children," Seidel said.

Dekalb County DA Announces New Appointments

DECATUR -- Recently, DeKalb County District Attorney Robert James recently announced the appointment of Nicole D. Marchand as Chief Assistant District Attorney, Craig S. Scott as Chief Investigator, Erik Burton as Director of Communications and Kaleema Thomas as Director of Diversion Programs.

Marchand, an Emory Law School graduate, previously served as the Acting Solicitor-General and Chief Assistant Solicitor-General. Scott previously served under James as his Chief Investigator in the Solicitor-General’s office and has worked as an investigator in the District Attorney’s office under former District Attorneys J. Tom Morgan, Jeff Brickman and Gwen Keyes Fleming. Burton, a Florida A&M University graduate, was the former Communications Director for the Office of the Solicitor-General and Community Relations Director for DeKalb County Government.

Georgia Senator Encourages Students to Enter Holocaust Contest

ROSWELL, GA -- Georgia Senator John Albers (R-Roswell) recently announced his desire for middle and high school students to enter the annual statewide Holocaust Art and Writing Contest.

Sponsored by the Georgia Commission on the Holocaust in cooperation with the Georgia Department of Education, the contest's theme is "What Are the Lessons of the Holocaust?" The program began in 1995; this is the first year that the contest will include a Music category.

"These contests are a great educational tool that inspires students to take the initiative to learn more about a critical time in our history," said Sen. Albers. "This program is a great example of the kind of creativity our schools need to truly engage students.

MOSAIC Group Wins Remodeling Awards

Atlanta-based MOSAIC Group [Architects and Remodelers] won two Contractor of the Year (CotY) Awards in a recent competition sponsored by the Atlanta Chapter of the National Association of the Remodeling Industry. The categories were Residential Kitchen ($80,001-$120,000) and Residential Exterior Specialty. William Fadul and Rick Goldstein are the company owners.

An impartial panel of judges, who are experts within the industry and associated fields, selected winners based on each entrant’s “before and after” photography and project description. Judging was based on problem solving, functionality, aesthetics, craftsmanship, innovation, degree of difficulty and entry presentation.

Mychael Knight Shares His Style at Perimeter Mall

DUNWOODY, GA -- Do you have what it takes to be a fashion designer?

For some, putting together the perfect outfit, whether for everyday or for a special occasion, can be a major challenge. Macy's recently launched a new site, Macy's Fashion Director, that makes it easier to navigate all of the hottest trends.

On Saturday, Sept. 18 at 2:00 p.m., the Fashion Director will come to life at Perimeter Mall (4300 Ashford Dunwoody Road, Dunwoody, 30346), where a special fashion challenge, hosted by season three "Project Runway" runner-up Mychael Knight, will determine who has the best fashion sense in Atlanta.

Contestants in the challenge will style models based on scenarios (what to wear to a Madonna concert, for example) and send them onto the runway.
