Commissioner Stan Watson to Address Issues Impacting Black DeKalb

DECATUR – In recognition of Black History Month, DeKalb County Commissioner Stan Watson is pleased to present to the citizens of DeKalb County the “State of Black DeKalb” - How Far Have We Come?  The event will feature a series of panel guests in a discussion to share insight on issues that impact critical quality of life issues.

Topics covered in the “State of Black DeKalb” include:

  • Economic Development
  • Education
  • Healthcare
  • Community Partnerships and Resources
  • Political Aspects
  • Faith-Based Community
  • Future of DeKalb

The event will be held at the Porter Sanford III Performing Arts and Community Center on Monday, Feb. 21, 2011 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the main theatre. A reception will follow.

The purpose of the event is to inspire leaders and citizens to collectively work together to raise awareness, generate community support and collaborate on ways to be proactive verses reactive in stabilizing and improving the lives of those who call DeKalb County home. We anticipate between 100 and 150 attendees.
