Sneiderman hearing will focus on perjury

DECATUR, Ga. -- In a pretrial hearing Friday, prosecutors in the Andrea Sneiderman case will focus on the testimony of Melanie White -- who testified at the murder trial of White's friend, Hemy Neuman. Prosecutors want the jury in Mrs. Sneiderman's case to see portions of White's testimony from the Neuman trial.

A jury convicted Neuman for the murder of Rusty Sneiderman -=- and a few months later, prosecutors indicted Neuman's coworker Andrea Sneiderman, claiming Mrs. Sneiderman helped Neuman murder her husband.

Melanie White testified that Neuman confided in her, and shared with her emails exchanged between Neuman and Mrs. Sneiderman. "He and Andrea had decided that they were soul mates," White testified on February 22, 2012, referring to a conversation she'd had with Neuman.

Mrs. Sneiderman denies having an affair with Neuman, and has pleaded not guilty to the murder. As 11 Alive News reported Monday, prosecutors may drop the murder charge against Mrs. Sneiderman due to lack of evidence.

White contradicts Mrs. Sneiderman's contention that she'd had no romantic relationship with Hemy Neuman. White's previous testimony could support two of the prosecution's perjury counts against Mrs. Sneiderman.

But her testimony does almost nothing to support the murder case against Mrs. Sneiderman. Prosecutors aren't saying whether they'll proceed with the murder charges when the trial starts Monday. But we could find out Friday -- when the two sides argue about whether to allow Melanie White's testimony from the last trial .
