Chip's Nation camps out

SANDY SPRINGS, Ga. -- They call themselves "Chip's Nation" -- a nation made up of friends, family members and supporters of Chip Madren.

Chip Madren is a Sandy Springs seventh grader who is battling brain cancer. This weekend, "Chip's Nation" camped out on a soccer field to show their support and raise money for Chip and his family.

Click "Read More" to see pictures from the campout.

Last year, Chip went through several surgeries, chemotherapy and radiation treatment. The surgery was so invasive, it took away Chip's ability to speak. But Chip didn't need words to show his gratitude and excitement when he made a surprise visit to the campsite Saturday night.

Dunwoody, GA -- For the first time, members of Dunwoody United Methodist Church, ably assisted by members of Chamblee United Methodist Church, will begin building two Habitat for Humanity Homes using money raised during the 2010 Holiday Festival.

The Dunwoody/Sandy Springs community provided so much generous support that DUMC was able to raise enough money to pay for entire cost of one Habitat Home and most of the cost of a second home.

Construction of DUMC's 18th and 19th Habitat homes will begin
in April and continue over the course of seven weekends. The house dedication is scheduled for Saturday, June 11.
