DECATUR: Habitat DeKalb rebuilds after tool theft in May

DECATUR. Ga. -- Two months after thieves stole thousands of dollars worth of tools, Habitat for Humanity DeKalb held a special house dedication on Saturday morning.

"This key gets you in the front door, and I'm delighted to pass it on to you," said Habitat House Leader Michael Culver as he handed the house key to new homeowner Amanda Chapman. "Congratulations."

For the first time in years, Chapman will have her own room, and her six-year-old son will have room to run.

"This has been a dream come true, and I want to thank everyone," Chapman said.

Chapman's new home was a foreclosure that was completely renovated, despite a huge setback two months ago.

Three different times, thieves broke into the storage units where Habitat DeKalb kept its tools.
