ATLANTA -- Anne Byrn, bestselling author of the Cake Mix Doctor series, will hold a talk and signing of her new gluten-free cookbook at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 26 at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta-Scottish Rite (1001 Johnson Ferry Road NE, Atlanta, 30342).

Gluten is found in wheat, rye and barley. It has been implicated in health issues ranging from respiratory problems and abdominal discomfort to anemia, anxiety and infertility.

In 2008, the food industry and many restaurant chains increased the number of gluten-free products and options for consumers to select for their healthcare needs.

In The Cake Mix Doctor Bakes Gluten-Free, Byrn reveals how to transform gluten-free cake mixes into 76 rich, decadent, easy-to-make and impossible-to-resist desserts.

Her tempting fare includes additions like almond extract, fresh berries, cocoa powder, grated coconut, lime zest and cinnamon -- all natural and gluten-free.

Some of the book's featured recipes are Tres Leches Cake with Whipped Cream and Summer Berries, Almond Cream Cheese Pound Cake, Chocolate Cupcakes with Milk Chocolate Ganache, Warm Tarte Tartin Apple Cake and more.

With 3.3 million copies in print, the Cake Mix Doctor series was inspired by Byrn's childhood in Nashville, Tennessee, which she spent surrounded by loving family and good, fresh Southern meals.
